Meals on Wheels
Hunger is a serious threat facing millions of seniors in the United States and understanding it is a critical first step to developing strategies to eliminate hunger among seniors.
Our Meals on Wheels program, which serves all of Nassau County provides nutritious meals and other nutrition services to men and women who are elderly, homebound, disabled, frail, or at risk. These services significantly improve the quality of life and health of the individuals they serve and postpone early institutionalization.

Our Meals on Wheels program volunteers deliver meals hot and ready-to-eat, or cold meals in containers ready to microwave. Also available are deep-frozen meals to be thawed and heated when needed. The COA is very fortunate to have a team of volunteers who deliver meals. In addition to providing nutrition to sustain the health of a client, a meal delivery by a Meals on Wheels volunteer also serves as a safety check and a source of companionship for the client.
For more information about the Meals on Wheels Program qualifications, costs or to volunteer as a driver, please call COA at 261-0701.
Meals on Wheels for Pets
Meals on Wheels supports the idea that pets provide love and companionship and improve quality of life for their owners. Therefore, we will deliver monthly supplies of cat and dog food to our meal recipients who need assistance with meals for their pets.
Your donation of cat or dog food or dollars to support this program is greatly appreciated. The gratifying aspect of our program is that we know how much comfort a pet can bring and we are glad to know that we can continue to keep both our clients AND their beloved pets fed. Please call the COA at 261-0701 if you would like to make a donation.
