Services
Senior Centers
The COA offers 2 senior center locations, one in Fernandina Beach and one in Hilliard, whose mission is to engage people 60-plus in meaningful activities involving socialization, health care screening programs, interesting speakers, field trips, arts and craft activities and a hot noon-time lunch.
Adult Day Healthcare
An Adult Day Healthcare program is offered in the Fernandina Beach Senior Center. We are licensed to care for 15 adults who are frail, suffering from mild forms of Dementia to Alzheimer’s disease, and in need of daily supervision. Supervision is by a licensed nurse and staff who provide therapeutic activities, medical screenings, a hot lunch and can dispense medicines. This program allows caregivers of these individuals to have some respite time for errands, appointments or jobs.
COA Transportation
The COA Transportation system offers comfortable vans to transport seniors to medical appointments both locally and in Jacksonville, take them shopping or to other local appointments. These vans are also available for private rental to groups needing transportation to sporting or cultural events in our area.
*We always provide a professional assessment prior to the beginning of certain services that we offer. A licensed case management professional consults with the client and family in the home to develop a personalized, custom-tailored care plan. Periodic reassessments are conducted to make sure the right level of care is always provided.
Meals on Wheels
The Meals on Wheels program is a function of the Council on Aging as a team of very dedicated volunteers deliver 2200 meals a month and provide reassurance and companionship to seniors throughout Nassau County.
In-Home Services
The COA provides In-Home Services to seniors in need of light housekeeping and laundry chores; bathing, hygiene, grooming and dressing assistance; meal preparation; personal care; errands and shopping assistance; medication reminders and companionship.
COA Corner Store to Open & Sell Gently Used Medical Equipment

Your Council on Aging will soon open a place to display and re-sell gently used medical equipment and supplies. We want to “recycle” these supplies to people in our area who have a current need for them at a cost they can afford… The “Corner Store” will be located at our COA location on South 18th St across from Baptist Hospital Nassau. The Corner Store hours will be from 8:30am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
If you have some gently used medical equipment and would like to donate it to the Council on Aging, We would gladly accept your donations Monday through Friday during our regular hours–8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at both Senior Center locations, and will be happy to provide you with documentation of your donation.
Thank you for delivering these items to the COA so that we can be of better service to Nassau seniors. Have questions? Please call the front desk at our East Nassau location (904) 261 0701 or our West Nassau  location at (904) 845.3331.
