Communications and Marketing Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Executive Director & Development Manager
Hours: 25 hours per week
Summary –The Communications and Marketing Manager is responsible for planning, designing and managing all public relations (internal and external information), as well as the marketing of COA’s programs and activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans and directs marketing/advertising, public relations, and promotional campaigns and strategies. Develops and implements a written media relations and communications plans.
- Directs the production of printed publications. Writes materials for and directs the layout of informational materials such as newsletters (currently twice per year), brochures, pamphlets, directories, and posters.
- Initiates, develops, and maintains media and public contacts for disseminating information. Researches and writes news releases.
- Initiates, develops, and maintains media contacts for disseminating information.
- In partnership with the Executive Director, represents COA at public speaking venues.
- Manages the advertising, public relations, and promotional budget by writing the narrative, projecting costs, determining necessary adjustments and reviewing expenditures. Working with the Executive Director, develops an annual strategic communications and marketing plan. The plan will set out objectives for each strategic area related to communications and marketing, and outlines specific plans for achieving those objectives within a specified timeline.
- Under the direction of the Executive Director and the Development Manager, makes presentations to the Board on communications and marketing strategies and activities.
- Responsible for working with the Executive Director and the Development Manager to draft and implement an annual, strategic, special events calendar that ensures the efforts, resources and the volunteer time are utilized in a manner that provides the greatest return to COA. Working with the Development Manager, ensures all events are planned to capture the attention of the intended audience and the media. Manages the production of each event ensuring all appropriate sponsorships are achieved and all details are managed in a creative, timely and cost efficient manner.
- Supervises and maintains the COA website.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- BA/BS in business, marketing, communications or an equivalent combination of education, training and expertise.
- Individual must possess a minimum of five years communications/marketing experience, preferably in a non-profit organization.
- Experience must include strategic planning, communications planning and management, marketing and media relations.
- Must possess proven analytical capabilities and conceptual skills in order to achieve strategic objectives.
- Must possess outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse groups of people in a team oriented environment.
